With 5-0 win over Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 5, Texas Rangers win first World Series title. Corey Seager’s timely hit in the seventh inning marked a turning point in Game 5 of the World Series, as the Texas Rangers secured their first championship in their 63-season franchise history by defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0. Seager’s pivotal single broke a no-hitter carried by Arizona’s Zac Gallen into the seventh inning, and it provided the spark that ignited the Rangers’ offense.

Nathan Eovaldi pitched six resilient innings, and Mitch Garver delivered an RBI single in the seventh to break a scoreless tie. The Rangers, known for their remarkable 11-0 record on the road during this postseason, clinched the Fall Classic with three consecutive wins in Arizona. Marcus Semien added a home run in the ninth inning, contributing to a four-run inning.

Manager Bruce Bochy, in his first season with the Rangers, claimed his fourth World Series title, exactly 13 years after his first championship in 2010 with the San Francisco Giants. The 68-year-old manager was part of the team that helped soothe the agony of Texas fans who suffered a near-miss in the 2011 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Rangers’ win was no easy feat. They persevered through a challenging season, losing the AL West division title to the Houston Astros on the final day of the regular season. They battled numerous injuries, including those to key players like Jacob deGrom, Corey Seager, Adolis Garcia, and Max Scherzer.

Despite these obstacles, the Rangers, under the leadership of general manager Chris Young, completed an impressive turnaround. The team that lost 102 games in 2021 and had a 68-94 record last year earned their first World Series title after five stadiums, numerous managers, and 10,033 games.

The game saw Gallen maintain a no-hitter into the seventh inning before Seager’s well-placed single, which was followed by Evan Carter’s double, and finally, Garver’s crucial RBI. Eovaldi held the Diamondbacks scoreless despite walking five batters, demonstrating remarkable control in critical situations.

The Rangers became the first team in World Series history to win a game without recording a hit or run through six innings. Josh Sborz’s outstanding relief pitching secured the victory as he struck out four batters in 2 1/3 innings, earning his first postseason save.

With the win, Texas can now celebrate its first championship in a parade in the Arlington entertainment district near their stadium, completing a remarkable journey for a team that was determined to claim the title.
