The Las Vegas Golden Knights had an amazing victory in the 2023 Stanley Cup Finals, winning the series 4 games to 1 against the Florida Panthers. It was the Golden Knights’ first-ever Stanley Cup win since they became an organization in 2017. In game 5, the Golden Knights dominated with a 9-3 victory, sealing their championship title.
Although the Panthers managed to win game 3 in overtime with a score of 3-2, they struggled to keep up with the aggressive playstyle of the Golden Knights. The Panthers’ defenseman, Aaron Ekblad, scored a goal in the second period of game 5, narrowing the gap to 2-1. However, the Golden Knights quickly responded by scoring another 4 goals, extending their lead to 6-2 by the end of the second period.
Despite having more shots on goal (35 compared to the Golden Knights’ 32), the Panthers couldn’t find the back of the net. Their goalie, Sergei Bobrovsky, had a save percentage of .901 throughout the 2022-23 regular season and a .915 save percentage during the playoffs. However, in game 5, Bobrovsky struggled and allowed 8 goals on 31 shots, resulting in a save percentage of just .742.
On the other hand, the Golden Knights’ goalie, Adin Hill, had a solid performance in game 5, with a save percentage of .914. He allowed 3 goals on 35 shots, contributing to the Golden Knights’ victory. Hill had an overall save percentage of .932 throughout the playoffs, which played a crucial role in the team’s success.
It was a remarkable journey for both teams, and the Golden Knights deservedly took home the Stanley Cup for the 2022-23 season.
